Bucket Wars is back, and it moved upstream. Bucket Wars: The Return will happen Saturday, August 14 at Gold Medal Park, adjacent to the Guthrie near downtown. In a characteristically stylized message, Bucket Wars founders explained as such:
Friends, many days and many nights have past since we last met on the battlefield. Our days of peace and innocent frivolity were hard earned by the labors of the West Bank bucket warriors in days of old. We have conquered the lands of the University, but we can no longer be satisfied by maroon and gold earth. The air has grown stagnant, absent of an unseen yet powerful force once abundant in the gopher gusts: GLORY
Glory, comrades, is what we must restore to our spirits. And there is only one way to do that: Bucket Wars in the city.
BUCKET WARS (IX): The Return
8:30pm Rules Explanation on 1st floor of 1419
8:45pm Break into teams, gear up, strategize
9:00pm Walk to Gold Medal, take tour of course
9:15pm First game begins
9:45-10:30 As many games as possible before people quit or something happens with police or something
10:30pm (much) Rejoicing at 1419
Please bring:
-A willingness to play and make friends
-Red and/or Blue garments/clothes/accessories/hats/facepaint
-Monay$$$ (not much) for donations to 1419 if you want some beer or wanna throw us a bone
-Maybe some running shoes?
-Gatorade, definitely, if you're into gatorade
-ALL YOUR FRIENDS!!!
Here's the deal folks: we want to make this a 50 vs. 50 bucket wars, making it the biggest ever. We'll have gear for 100+ people, so bring everyone you know that might want to play! And stay for the party, where you can relive the glory immediately by watching video playback from the games.
